about

What drove me to put together this collection was from the want to communicate ideas of tension and release. Musically, across genres and soundscapes, and emotionally from a life lived across Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and Canada. These ideas provoked feelings and thoughts which the tracks are named after.

- A Sense - Written and refined over a few years, by following the elusive feeling of the progression and melodies within it.
- Departure - An ode to electronic beats and their unwavering company when I'm going places.
- Yearning - Mix of responding to a sample of Abadi Al Johar improvising on the Oud, and the inspiration of techno and dub music.
- Night Moon - Improvised session on a Moog Grandmother and Roland Juno, late at night, whilst looking at the moon from my window.
- In Loving Memory - Reharmonization and response of a traditional Armenian melody played on Duduk, followed by an introspective reflection, in loving memory of the older generations and wisdom they offer us.

Collecting these ideas, and arranging them to this form that they are in now, was inspired by my friends and community of musicians that I have been so grateful to get to know during my years in Montreal and Toronto.

Eternal thanks to my parents Amjad & Rima, my brother Nady for their continuous support and belief in me.

The community of musicians and friends that inspired this: Chris Ross, 65SELECTS, Rafa Aslan, MXK (Makram El-Ashkar), Sam Ehsaei, Shaunt Raffi and Tapestry Toronto, Lana Khudir and Kunn Collective, Zack Santella, ALLSVNS, Kazdoura, and Elbit Kabrit.

A special thanks to Qais El-Masri, Anthony Daher, Karim El-Barbary for being there and building this process with me.
